Lauren Byrd, MA, LCMHC-A

The journey to healing is often difficult and having support along the way is necessary. Many of us have been given messages that we need to be strong and brave, making it hard to ask for help. I am here to help you see that you are strong, and you are brave, but it is also okay to ask for help. My goal as a counselor is to offer support, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness. I believe we all have the answers we need within ourselves, and I hope that through our work together, you can find your answers. For me, counseling is about empowerment and helping my clients find their inner power.

As a person in long-term recovery, I know how challenging it can be living with and recovering from addiction. I know the pain that comes with living in shame and fear, and that is why I am so passionate about working with others who experience addiction. You no longer need to live in that fear and shame. The journey of recovery can be daunting at first, but I am here to support you throughout your journey. Counseling can be scary. It takes courage to commit, and I commend you for considering it. When I started my own counseling journey as a client, I was terrified. As time went on, I began to love who I am, every part of myself. I know how fulfilling counseling can be and I hope it is something I can share with you.

I completed my masters degree at Wake Forest University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and I received my undergraduate degree at the University of North Carolina Greensboro with a major in Psychology and minor in Human Development and Family Studies.

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor – Associate and am registered with the NC Addiction Specialists Professional Practice Board and am fulfilling requirements as a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist – Associate.

I look forward to meeting you!
