Liora Shir, MSW

Many individuals are challenged by anxiety, depression, social problems, and other mental health concerns that can sometimes lead to substance dependence. At some point, each person faces unique obstacles preventing them from fully seeing their potential. I am passionate about supporting individuals, families, and caregivers to navigate the road toward discovering their inner strengths so they can achieve their recovery goals.

James Hollis wrote, “The quality of all of our relationships is a direct function of our relationship to ourselves.” This quote summarizes my focus – helping individuals gain awareness and acceptance of who they are. My approach is through a Family Systems lens, understanding one’s behavior in the context of the family as well as the influence of larger systems such as gender, ethnicity, and sexual orientation. I use a strength-based process involving Internal Family Systems, Family Management Skills, Relational Life Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy to help define goals and encourage skill building.

I am delighted to transition into a Staff Counselor role with Full Life after having completed by Master of Social Work degree from the University of Michigan. I will continue to practice under the clinical supervision of Full Life’s Clinical Director, Dr. Leigh Zick Dongre.

I hope to support individuals, parents, and families in creating healthy patterns that can foster positive outcomes.
